ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The YMCA of Western North Carolina will kick off Healthy Aging Month this September with a day of free group activities, food and health screenings.

The YMCA Healthy Aging Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5 at the Reuter Family YMCA in Biltmore Park. The event is presented by Hopscotch Primary Care.

What to expect at Healthy Aging Day

According to a press release, the event will feature “group exercise classes, pickleball, informative lectures, free health screenings, free food and drinks, and vendor booths.”

“Healthy aging is about staying active, connected, and informed,” said Tim Blenco, chief operating officer at the YMCA of WNC, in the release. “At the Y, we’re proud to offer programs and events that empower older adults to thrive physically, mentally and socially. Healthy Aging Day is a great opportunity to explore those resources and connect with others in the community.”
