ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A woman has been charged in connection with a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist in West Asheville last week, according to the Asheville Police Department.

The crash happened about 4:23 p.m. Feb. 13 at the intersection of New Leicester Highway and Eliada Home Road.

Investigators said Tylor Russell Holzhauser, 27, was riding a 2024 Kawasaki ER650 motorcycle southbound on New Leicester Highway when he collided with a 2013 Toyota Prius traveling northbound and attempting to turn left onto Eliada Home Road. The Prius was driven by Jennifer Louise Saylor, 56, police said.

Holzhauser was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

New Leicester Highway was closed for more than an hour while officers investigated.

Following an investigation and consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, Saylor was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and unsafe movement, police said.

She was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 unsecured bond, or $500 to a bondsman, as set by a magistrate.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Asheville police at 828-252-1110. Anonymous tips can be submitted by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or through the department’s TIP2APD smartphone app.
