Upcoming astrological events visible from WNC

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — This month an array of astrological events can be viewed across Western North Carolina, including meteor showers, comets and this year’s Harvest Supermoon.

Astrological event calendar

Oct. 2 – Nov. 7: Orionid Meteor Shower

The Orionid Meteor Shower is active now through Nov. 7, peaking between midnight and dawn on Oct. 21 due to the coinciding New Moon.

Oct. 7: Harvest Supermoon

This year’s Harvest Moon, the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, will be a Supermoon, making it the largest and brightest of the calendar year. The best viewing time for the Supermoon will be from approximately 6:30-7 p.m.

Oct. 21: Comet C/2025 A6

Also known as Comet Lemmon, Comet C/2025 A6 will be making its closest approach to Earth between Oct. 20-21. The comet is forecasted to be viewable by binoculars and potentially the naked eye.
