ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Tourists closed their 2025 home season at McCormick Field on Sunday with a 4-2 loss to the Hub City Spartanburgers, undone by walks and errors despite a pair of home runs.
Drew Vogel tied the game in the second inning with a solo shot to left, and Alejandro Nunez pulled Asheville within a run in the sixth with a blast to right. But the Tourists (51-71) couldn’t overcome defensive miscues and free passes.
Two errors in the fifth inning set up an unearned run, and four walks in the eighth helped Spartanburg (63-62) tack on insurance.
Brandon McPherson (0-3) took the loss despite his longest outing of the season, working 3 2/3 innings with five strikeouts while allowing two runs, one earned.

With renovations underway for a new-look ballpark next season, the Tourists will finish their 2025 campaign on the road with a six-game series at Bowling Green beginning Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m.
Meanwhile, the club continued its “Ballpark Changeup” project this week, donating lockers to Erwin High School and sending the team tarp to Enka High.
