ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Tanger Outlets Asheville will host its inaugural Barktober event Friday, Oct. 10, inviting shoppers and their dogs to an evening of Halloween-themed fun from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event will feature a pet-and-owner costume contest with prizes, seasonal photo opportunities and appearances by Rusty’s Legacy Dog Rescue with adoptable dogs.

Barktober will be held in Center Court near the Nike Factory Store. Attendees are also encouraged to visit the shopping center’s new dog park, which opened in September. The park offers a green space for dogs to run and play, shaded seating and a watering station for owners and bright murals by local artists that create a festive backdrop.

The event is free and open to the public. Tanger Outlets encourages the community to shop, stroll and enjoy a Halloween-inspired evening with their pets.
