BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Novant Health Asheville Imaging Center LLC and Novant Health Inc. have filed a certificate of need application with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to develop a diagnostic center in Asheville.

The project is expected to cost $8.3 million and would be completed in January 2026.

“In response to what we’ve heard from local physicians about needed medical services in the region, we are applying to develop a diagnostic imaging center at 1815 Hendersonville Road in Asheville, which will also eventually house specialty medical clinics,” a Novant Health spokesperson said. “The proposed imaging center will increase access to CT, ultrasound, mammography and DXA imaging services and, if approved, will begin offering services in early 2026. We remain committed to investing in Western North Carolina and extending remarkable care to this community.”

A public hearing for this project will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Black Mountain Public Library’s meeting room, 105 N. Dougherty St. in Black Mountain.

Anyone may file written comments concerning the proposal. Comments must be received by the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section by 5 p.m. on Dec. 2.
