More than 1,000 without power in Swannanoa

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Duke Energy reported 24 active power outages in Buncombe County late Monday morning, including more than 1,000 customers without electricity in the Swannanoa area.

According to the Duke Energy outage map, several outages with unknown causes were reported about 10:30 a.m.

One outage affected 137 customers and was reported at 10:36 a.m. Crews estimated power would be restored by 3:30 p.m.

Another outage, also reported at 10:36 a.m., left 268 customers without power. Restoration was expected by 4 p.m.

A separate outage affecting 455 customers was also listed as having an unknown cause. Power was expected to be restored by 4:30 p.m.

In addition, 524 customers lost power around 10:33 a.m. Duke Energy said repairs and damage assessments were underway, but no estimated restoration time had been provided.

Duke Energy encouraged customers to report outages and monitor restoration updates through its online outage map.
