Crash closes shoulder on I-40 West in Asheville area

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The right shoulder of Interstate 40 westbound was closed Tuesday morning following a vehicle crash near Porters Cove Road, according to transportation officials.

The closure occurred about one mile west of Exit 55 in Buncombe County, near mile marker 54. Officials said the incident was reported at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday and is expected to be cleared by about 10 a.m.

Traffic impacts were described as high during the closure period.
