Crash closes lane on I-26 near Airport Road

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A crash closed one lane of Interstate 26 in Buncombe County on Thursday morning, causing significant traffic delays, authorities said.

The left lane of westbound I-26 was closed about two miles west of Exit 40 at N.C. 280 (Airport Road) near Arden. One of two lanes remained open.

The closure began at about 8:08 a.m. and was expected to last until around 9:08 a.m. Traffic impacts were described as high.

No information on injuries or the cause of the crash was immediately available.
