ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A section of Upper Grassy Branch Road is closed Tuesday after a large tree fell and brought down power lines, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

The road is closed between Maxwell Road and Riceville Road. The closure is expected to remain in place for most of the day, officials said.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and follow posted detours while crews work to clear the roadway and address the downed power lines.
