Buncombe County detective attacked by dog during Leicester arrest

LEICESTER, N.C. (828newsNOW) — During an attempt to take two people into custody in Leicester, a Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office detective was bitten by a dog.

The BCSO detective took Amanda Marie Allen, 35, into custody with incident at 12 Scone Road, but while attempting to arrest Brandon Ray Holcombe, 34, the detective was attacked and bitten by a dog near the suspect.

Holcombe was taken into custody and the dog was seized by the BCSO Animal Crimes Unit. The detective was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.

“We are proud of the dedication and work of our investigators as they continue to link more and more crimes to these individuals that have been committed in the Leicester Community,” said BCSO District 2 Captain Chris Stockton. “This incident also highlights the risks our personnel expose themselves to while serving others. We are grateful for their willingness to continue serving despite the risks.”

Holcombe was booked on a $94,500 bond and charged with:

  • Unauthorized use of motor vehicle
  • Assault on Leo/po serious injury
  • Larceny of chose in action

  • Poss of drug paraphernalia
  • Fict/alt title/ reg card tag
  • Obtain property by false pretense

  • Felony conspiracy

  • Poss of drug paraphernalia

Allen was booked on a $77,400 bond and charged with:

  • Felony larceny
  • Poss of fentanyl
  • Larceny of a chose in action

  • Larceny of a chose in action
  • Poss of drug paraphernalia
  • Dog/cat/ferret vaccination
  • Financial card fraud
  • Identity theft
  • Felony conspiracy
