ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A bomb threat closed a major highway near Greenville, South Carolina, on Thursday.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster confirmed on social media that Interstate 85 was closed near mile marker 44 “out of an abundance of caution” following a bomb threat issued during a routine traffic stop by the South Carolina Transport Police.

McMaster said normal traffic will resume after a tractor-trailer is swept and cleared by the State Law Enforcement Division.
