ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department is investigating three different gun discharges that occurred between Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.

According to an APD press release, there were no injuries at any of the scenes and only property damage has bee reported.

In the first incident, APD officers responded around 1:35 p.m. on Friday, June 5 to a gunfire report on Klondyke Avenue in the Montford neighborhood. However, officers did not find any gun casings or property damage.

In the second incident, APD officers investigated a gunfire report near the intersection of Congress Street and Choctaw Street south of downtown Asheville. Investigators and forensic technicians recovered four shell casings and discovered damage at one nearby residence.

In the third incident, APD officers responded to multiple gunfire reports around 2:02 a.m., Saturday, June 6 around the Flint Street area. According to the APD release, officers found 17 shell casings and two vehicles damaged by gunfire, but the suspect was no longer at the scene. However, shortly afterward, APD officers found a vehicle on Riverside Drive that matched a description given by witnesses at the scene.

“As officers approached, the driver exited the vehicle, fled on foot and was not located,” APD wrote in the release. “The driver is described as a short black male with short dreadlocks. Two firearms were recovered, one from the vehicle and one from the path that he fled, which had been reported stolen earlier in the day.”
