ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a string of incidents in south Asheville involving indecent exposure, attempted break-ins and secret peeping over the past several months.

Officers arrested Raymond Steven Young, 68, around 12:09 a.m. Monday after responding to a report of indecent exposure in the 100 block of Deer Lake Drive, according to the Asheville Police Department.

Police said officers found Young walking naked in the area and took him into custody without incident.

During the investigation, detectives determined Young was responsible for multiple similar incidents reported in recent months in the Deer Lake Drive neighborhood, where residents had reported a naked man attempting to break into homes.

Young has been charged with:

  • Two felony counts of attempted first-degree burglary
  • Misdemeanor secret peeping
  • Misdemeanor indecent exposure
  • Misdemeanor second-degree trespassing

He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and is being held without bond after a magistrate determined he was ineligible for release.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected. Detectives are asking anyone who may have been affected by similar incidents to contact the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110.
