ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An Asheville man pleaded guilty Monday to incest and failing to register as a sex offender and will be required to register for life.

Troy Daniel Pipkin, 58, admitted in Buncombe County Superior Court to one count of incest involving a disabled adult victim. The offense, which occurred around Nov. 1, 2023, resulted in the victim becoming pregnant. He also pleaded guilty to seven counts of felony failure to register as a sex offender.

Visiting Superior Court Judge Louis Trosch sentenced Pipkin to two consecutive prison terms of 21 to 38 months each. In addition, the court issued a permanent no-contact order prohibiting him from contacting the victim.

Prosecutors said the victim chose not to testify but expressed satisfaction with the plea agreement and resulting sentences.

Pipkin also faces additional prison time in Florida.
