ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — City and county offices in Asheville and Buncombe County will operate on delayed schedules Monday as crews continue to respond to winter weather that impacted roads and services across the region.

The city of Asheville said city government offices will open at 11 a.m. Monday. Asheville Rides Transit bus service is expected to resume at 1 p.m., pending road conditions.

Several city facilities will have limited operations. Parks and Recreation community centers will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, and Riverside Cemetery will operate on a regular schedule. Harrah’s Cherokee Center-Asheville, the Western North Carolina Nature Center, the municipal golf course and the disc golf course will remain closed through Tuesday.

City officials urged residents to keep vehicles off roadways to allow snow plows and treatment vehicles access. City-owned parking garages will be free through 10 p.m. Monday. If street parking is necessary, vehicles should be parked on the same side of the street, and residents were asked not to push snow from driveways or parking lots into the street.

Trash and recycling collection is suspended Monday, with updates to be provided as conditions are reassessed. Water Resources facilities continue to be staffed around the clock, and water emergencies can be reported at 828-251-1122.

Cold weather shelter operations remain in effect. Code Purple shelters will be open 24 hours Sunday and Monday, with regular Code Purple hours resuming Tuesday. The Asheville Fire Department’s REST team is assisting unhoused residents.

Buncombe County Government administrative offices will also open at 11 a.m. Monday. County parks and Pack Memorial Library will open at 11 a.m., while other county libraries will be closed as part of their regular Monday schedule. The county landfill and transfer station will open at 10 a.m.

Because of secondary road conditions, FCC Environmental will not operate trash collections Monday. Service will run on a one-day delay for the remainder of the week, with Monday routes collected Tuesday, Tuesday routes on Wednesday, and so on. Friday collections will be made Saturday. Excess bagged trash outside carts will be collected to account for missed service the previous week.

Mountain Mobility will operate on a delayed schedule beginning at 1 p.m. Monday. Riders are encouraged to check for updates if road conditions change. Delay notices will be posted on WLOS-TV.

The Buncombe County Courthouse, a function of the N.C. Judicial Branch, will open at 11 a.m. Monday.
