ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A man has been charged after a stabbing early Friday morning at an apartment complex on South French Broad Avenue left another man injured, Asheville police said.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the apartment complex about 5:07 a.m. Friday, according to the Asheville Police Department.
Police said officers found the victim in his apartment with a laceration to his chest and provided medical assistance until EMS arrived.
The man was taken to Mission Hospital with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
Officers found a suspect nearby and took him into custody without incident, police said.
Ronald Guy Whiteside, 56, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Whiteside was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and ordered held without bond by a magistrate, according to APD.
Police did not release the victim’s name or say what led to the stabbing.
