A.C. Reynolds rallies for suicide prevention with awareness walk

FAIRVIEW, N.C. (828newsNOW) — September is Suicide Prevention Month, which Asheville will be ending strong with the “Out of the Silence” Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk at A.C. Reynolds High School.

The walk and accompanying event will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the R.L. Dalton Stadium at A.C. Reynolds High.

Out of the Silence was organized by the A.C. Reynolds High PTSA in an effort to call attention to mental health resources and suicide rates among teens.

The event will feature a resource table, music, activities and several available counselors, as well as a student, parent and mental health professional speaker.

The schedule will follow:

  • 4:30 p.m. – Event opens to the public
  • 5:30 p.m. – Speakers begin
  • 6-6:10 p.m. Walk begins
  • 6:10-6:30 p.m. – Resource tables remain open with mental health professionals available
