132-player Biltmore Championship Asheville field to include 3 Top 50 golfers

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — 132 golfers will take to The Cliffs at Walnut Cove for the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville golf tournament later this month. Three of those players sit inside the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

The Biltmore Championship Asheville marks the return of the PGA TOUR to Asheville for the first time in more than 80 years and kicks off the opening event of the FedExCup Fall. The event will be played Sept. 17-20, 2026.

Two of the three top 50 players competing have connections to the region. Number 37, J.T. Poston, is a Western Carolina University alum, and Number 28, Jacob Bridgeman, graduated from Clemson University.

Meanwhile, Justin Thomas, number 22, is a 16-time PGA TOUR winner.

Additionally, Bridgeman, Thomas and Jackson Koivun, a player who joined professional standing in June 2026, are members of the United States Team.

Four players will compete with sponsor exemption in the Biltmore Championship Asheville, including Tyler Watts, an 18-year-old University of Tennessee freshman, Tyler Jones, a WCU senior, Carson Bertagnole, an University of North Carolina sophomore, and Brendan Valdes, a second-place finisher in the PGA TOUR University Class of 2025 and an Auburn University alum.
