ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville athletic department unveiled Monday the “Keep Climbing” Campaign. The Bulldogs are known for producing Champions in Athletics and Leaders in Life. In recent years, the athletic department has gained tremendous momentum in recruiting high caliber student-athletes, retaining our respected and principled coaches, and enhancing our athletic facilities.

The Keep Climbing Campaign is a fundraising effort to provide unrestricted charitable support for UNC Asheville Athletics. It will provide the necessary funding to maintain the significant momentum built over the past three years, despite our present day budgetary uncertainty.

“We are asking all of our Bulldog friends, families, and fans to please consider making either their annual Bulldog Athletic Association donation or even a one-time gift of support during this campaign so that we can remain committed to all of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” said UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone.  “Your investment demonstrates your commitment to them too.”

Since mid-March UNC Asheville Athletics has significantly reduced spending in all areas including not filling open staff positions.  With the uncertain revenue forecast, we will continue to implement cost containment measures for the fiscal year 2020-21.   One area that will not be reduced is our annual scholarship budget which is over $2.7 million.

All gifts to the Keep Climbing Campaign are 100% tax-deductible and will count towards an individual donor’s Bulldog Athletic Association scholarship giving totals.

Anyone interested in giving to the Keep Climbing Campaign can do so via unca.edu/KeepClimbing. For questions, please contact David Jandrew, Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, at djandrew@unca.edu or (828) 251-6894.

“The time is now for all of us to play an integral role in building a successful future for UNC Asheville Athletics by investing in the Keep Climbing campaign,” Cone said. “Transformational philanthropy from our Bulldog friends will lead to changed lives. We need your help in making this vision a reality for our aspiring young men and women and our nationally recognized university.”
