COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  – The UNC Asheville swimming and diving team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors on Tuesday. It marks the 16th straight semester that the Bulldogs have received this honor.

We are extremely proud to be recognized once again by the CSCAA for earning Scholar-All America Team honors,” said UNC Asheville Head Swimming and Diving Coach Elizabeth Lykins. “While the entire University experienced half of the semester via virtual learning, the swimming and diving women excelled throughout these unique circumstances. Not only did we find success in the pool with our highest ever finish at conference championships, more importantly, the team members’ exceptional work in the classroom has paid off with this recognition.

Overall, the Bulldogs had 11 Chancellor List honorees (4.0 grade-point average),  12 Bulldogs landed spots on the Dean’s List (3.50-3.99 GPA), and 25 of the 28 student-athletes on the team posted a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Senior Adee Weller capped off the stellar year in the classroom for the program by receiving the prestigious George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence. Weller is the first student from the swimming and diving program to receive this honor, and the first Bulldog to win it since the 2005-2006 academic year.

“We’d like to thank Ms. Rebecca Nelms, Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success, and Dr. Jeff Wilcox, Faculty Athletic Representative, for all of their help and guidance during the year and especially the most recent term. Their support for our program is paramount in our team’s success,” Lykins added.

Per the CSCAA

CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart mentioned the efforts of Coach Lykins noting that “No team was unaffected by this Spring’s pandemic but Athletic Director Janet R. Cone and Chancellor Cable can and should be proud of their team and the work of  Elizabeth.”

About the CSCAA – Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation’s first organization of college coaches.
