From The Desk of Janet R. Cone, UNC Asheville Director of Athletics

“As human beings and members of our University community, Bulldog student-athletes, coaches, and staff strive daily to foster a culture of respect. At the core of our mission to become Champions and Leaders is our pledge to honor, uphold, and promote sportsmanship, citizenship, equity, and inclusiveness in the UNC Asheville Athletics Program. We believe that every one of us is inherently valuable simply because we exist, but people of color are dying and suffering senselessly as victims of racism, violence, and unjust treatment in this country every day.

“Racial injustice, inequality, and violence have undermined our shared humanity for far too long, and it is up to each of us to do more to help make our campuses and communities more just and equitable for everyone.  After meeting with our staff and coaches this morning who have been in contact with their respective teams over the weekend, we are unified in our commitment to these values and to do more.”

Sincerely,

Janet R. Cone, Director of Athletics
