Solheim Named Southern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Month

Western Carolina freshman Victoria Solheim was named the Southern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Month for January, conference officials announced this afternoon.

 

The reigning SoCon Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, Solheim made her collegiate debut at the VMI Team Challenge on Jan. 26 with two top-five finishes. Solheim finished in third place in the weight throw with a mark of 17.27 meters (56’8”), which is currently the top distance in the SoCon. Solheim scored a fifth-place result in the shot put with a throw of 12.76 meters (41’10.5).

 

Western Carolina competes for the third straight weekend as the Catamounts travel to the Darius Dixon Invitational hosted by Liberty on Friday and Saturday.
