UNC Asheville to Host Senior Day in Final Dual Meet of 2018-19 Season

In its final Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) dual meet of the 2018-19 season, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team will host Liberty this week, as the Bulldogs will recognize nine graduating seniors on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m.

Last Time Out – UNC Wilmington

 

In their last non-conference meet of the 2018-19 season, the Bulldogs fell to the Seahawks, 216-81.

 

Skylar Rogan posted a fast time in the 1000 freestyle, as the junior clocked a 10:31.85 time. Fellow Bulldogs Aleta Jewell and Sydney VandenBerg finished behind their teammate.

 

Adee Weller swam fast in the 200 freestyle. The junior from Boulder, Colo. posted a 1:54.54 time. Catherine Allen was right behind her classmate, as the junior earned a 1:56.71.

 

In her first event of the meet, Morgan Rulevich clocked a 1:06.65 time in the 100 breaststroke. Several events later, the Lake Wylie, S.C. native swam a 24.43 in the 50 free. Following the 50 free, Rulevich was one of the fastest swimmers in the 200 breaststroke, as she posted a 2:26.23.

 

Madison Rogan and Allen paced UNC Asheville in the 200 butterfly. Madison Rogan finished with a 2:06.15, while the reigning CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year earned a 2:07.96.

 

In the final individual swimming event of the meet, Madison Rogan clocked a 2:09.26 mark in the 200 individual medley.

 

The Bulldogs had a pair of divers compete in the 1m diving event – Alyssa Vincent and Kerigan Martin. Vincent earned 158.25 points, while Martin totaled 131.35 points.

 

About the Meet

 

The CCSA dual meet against Liberty marks the final meet of the regular season for the Bulldogs. The diving portion of the meet will be held at the Jewish Community Center (JCC), while the swimming events will be held in the Justice Center Pool.

 

The 1m diving event will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday at the JCC, and the swimming portion of the dual meet will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Justice Pool. Be sure to arrive early on Jan. 19, as UNC Asheville will recognize all nine graduating seniors (approximately 10:30 a.m.).

 

The Bulldogs will recognize nine seniors – Haley Bennison, Madison-Grace Bristow, Katie Brown, Elizabeth Conte, Emma Nelson, Rulevich, Hannah Stuart, VandenBerg and Jessica Woolfe. Since the program’s inception in 2012, this marks the fourth and also largest graduating class at UNC Asheville.

What’s Next?

 

The Bulldogs will take a month break from the pool to gear up for the 2019 CCSA Conference Championships. The four-day meet is hosted by Liberty and will be held in the Liberty Natatorium.

 

At last year’s CCSA Championships, UNC Asheville broke 14 program records, including three relay and 11 individual records.
