Dengokl Earns First Career Big South Player of the Week Accolade

For the first time in her career, senior guard Sonora Dengokl was named the Big South Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.

 

The Sumter, S.C. native averaged 17 points per game last week, as the Bulldogs defeated Davidson and Wofford inside Kimmel Arena. In the two-win week, Dengokl totaled 29 minutes per game. She also tallied a team-high 13 made field goals during the two games en route to sporting a .481 field goal percentage. She also corralled 11 total rebounds in the two-game stretch, which included a team-high eight boards on the offensive glass. She also went an impressive 8-for-11 from the free-throw line.

 

Versus the Wildcats, Dengokl totaled 18 points, as she went 6-for-16 from the hardwood. She also tabbed six rebounds, two assists and a steal in 33 minutes of action.

 

In the final game of the week versus Wofford, the senior played 25 minutes, went 7-for-11 from the field, corralled five boards and earned two assists.

 

On the year, Dengokl is averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game in five starts. She is also averaging two assists per contest and is shooting .500 percent from the field (32-for-64). She is also leading the Bulldogs from the free-throw line, as she is shooting at a .720 clip (18-for-25).

 

Dengokl and the Bulldogs will conclude the month of November with a trip to Furman on Friday, Nov. 30. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Timmons Arena.
