ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team took the field as a part of the Bulldog Blue & White Showdown Wednesday evening. In normal time, the score finished in a 1-1 tie, but the White team won the best-of-three penalty kicks to claim the victory.

The Blue team got the scoring started as Courtney Crevani put her team in front with a goal in the first period. The White squad tied things up in the second as goalkeeper Bryson Lee got some minutes as a field player and tied the score at one aside. A scoreless third period led the Bulldogs to a penalty kick shootout to decide a winner.

Gillian Oyos got the White team an early 1-0 advantage in the shootout. After both net-minders made stops in the second attempts, Grace Sloan pulled the Blue team into a tie once again. However, Ava Nkadi would tally a goal in her try to give the White team the point and the victory.

After Cross Country competes later this evening, the men’s soccer and volleyball teams will close out the week-long competition on Thursday. Men’s Soccer will get underway at 10:30 a.m. with volleyball to wrap things up at 6 p.m.
