ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville Head Women’s Basketball Coach Honey Brown announced the signing of guard Jamia Blake (Rock Hill, S.C.) on Friday.
“We are thrilled to have Jamia join our team for the upcoming season,” said Brown “Jamia is a proven winner and will bring that same mindset to Asheville. What I love about Jamia is her versatility. She has played multiple guard positions over her high school and AAU career. Jamia can score in multiple ways, which allowed her to become the all-time leading scorer at South Pointe. Our players will enjoy playing with Jamia because she sees the floor and can find the open person. We are looking forward to getting her to Asheville!”
Blake, who starred at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, S.C., is her high school’s all-time leader in points, steals, assists, and rebounds. She is a two-time All-State selection and a four-time All-Region player as well.
Before her senior season, Blake named the region’s Preseason MVP and did not disappoint as she helped lead her team to 27-3 record after averaging 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.9 steals per game.
Blake is the fifth player that the Bulldogs have brought in during this recruiting class joining Lani Woods, Abigail Wilson, Amanda Blake, and Raquel Cassidy.
