Brown Joins UNC Asheville Men’s Basketball as Preferred Walk-On

ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville men’s basketball has added guard Raquan Brown as a preferred walk-on for the class of 2020, head coach Mike Morrell announced, Wednesday.

A native of Charlotte, Brown returns to his home state after playing his freshman season at the University of New Orleans.

Brown, a 6-3 guard, came off the bench in 27 games for the Privateers, averaging 3.1 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 39.4 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

Brown had a career game in a road victory at conference foe Houston Baptist, scoring 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting while racking up five assists in 25 minutes, all of which represent career-bests. He scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in a conference matchup against Central Arkansas.

While a senior at Butler High School, Brown averaged 20.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while helping Butler to a 20-7 record. In his junior year, he averaged 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
