Mars Hill University swimmer Lorna Doorman will represent Zimbabwe at the World Short Course Swimming Championships held in Hangzhou, China from December 11-16.
“It’s exciting to be able to go there and compete,” Doorman said. “It’ll be nice to represent Mars Hill, getting the name out there and hopefully getting more people to come here.”
“I am so proud of Lorna,” head swim coach Teddy Guyer said. “Her hard work and dedication has earned her this spot on the Zimbabwe National team. Lorna is a great example of what Mars Hill Swimming is about; working hard in the pool and in the classroom.”
Doorman, a junior from Trelawney, Zimbabwe, is a biology major and carries a 3.95 GPA.
Doorman will be competing in both the 200- and 400-meter freestyle races and will be leaving for China at the end of the week.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to represent my country,” Doorman added. “I’m lucky that I’m able to represent them.”
