UNC Asheville Volleyball Travels to USC Upstate on Tuesday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Asheville volleyball will travel to USC Upstate for its first meeting as Big South Conference opponents on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

The match that will be streamed live on ESPN+ is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

BULLDOG BITES

UNC Asheville in the Big South Statistics
Cara Guthrie is presently third in the league in kills per set (3.15) and fourth in points per set (3.66). Guthrie is also sixth in the league in aces per set (0.37). UNC Asheville’s Julia Lovedayis presently fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.316). Ansley Rooks is in the top-10 in the category as well with a .256 hitting percentage (ninth). Cecilia Stack is seventh in the league in blocks per set at 0.87. Madisen Zyburt is third in the league in digs per set at 4.85. Kailey Hackett is 10th in the league with 5.17 assists per set.

Continuing to Dig It
In UNC Asheville’s two matches last week, Madisen Zyburt averaged 6.71 digs per set. She now has six matches this season where she has collected 20 or more digs.

Closing in on 1,000/1,000
UNC Asheville’s Cara Guthrie surpassed 900 digs in her career in the match with Winthrop on Saturday, Oct. 6. She now has 905 digs and 1,074 kills in her career entering the match at USC Upstate.

Bulldog Blockade
Cecilia Stack finished the UNC Asheville win over Gardner-Webb on Friday, Oct. 5 with six blocks. She now has two matches this season with six blocks. The six blocks are a team single match season-best with Julia Loveday also recording six blocks once.

About USC Upstate
The Spartans have been led this season by Emily Russell’s 160 kills and 74 total blocks. USC Upstate plays host to UNC Asheville owning a 6-14 overall record. The Spartans are 2-4 in league play.
